The JEE Mains 2026 Session 2 begins tomorrow. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the exam for BTech, BArch, and BPlanning courses on different days and in different shifts.
This is the April session of JEE Main. Many students who wrote Session 1 want to improve their score. Many others are appearing for the first time. Therefore, this session is very important for engineering and architecture admissions in 2026.

JEE Main 2026 Session 2: Exam schedule and daily shifts
First of all, students should know when the exam will be held and how the day is divided. This helps them plan travel, sleep time, and breakfast.
NTA will hold the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam across multiple days in April. On each exam day, there will be two shifts for most papers. However, your exact date and shift will be written only on your admit card.
JEE Main 2026 Session 2 – Expected Day-wise Pattern*:
| Shift | Reporting Time (Approx.) | Exam Time (Approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Morning shift | 7:30 am – 8:30 am | 9:00 am – 12:00 noon |
| Evening shift | 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm | 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm |
*The real timing will be printed on the admit card for each student.
Students must reach the centre before the reporting time. Otherwise, the gates may close, and then they will not be allowed inside.
Which JEE Main papers are in Session 2? BTech, BArch, BPlanning
Now, it is also useful to understand which paper is for which course. Many students still get confused between Paper 1 and Paper 2.
NTA will conduct three types of papers in JEE Main 2026:
- Paper 1 – for BE / BTech (engineering)
- Paper 2A – for BArch (Bachelor of Architecture)
- Paper 2B – for BPlanning (Bachelor of Planning)
Some students may choose only Paper 1. Others may choose a mix like Paper 1 + Paper 2A or Paper 2A + Paper 2B, depending on their interest.
JEE Main 2026 Papers and Related Courses:
| Paper | Course | Exam Style |
|---|---|---|
| Paper 1 | BE / BTech | Computer‑based test |
| Paper 2A | BArch | Maths + Aptitude + Drawing |
| Paper 2B | BPlanning | Maths + Aptitude + Planning |
Therefore, students must double‑check that the paper name on their admit card matches the course they want to study.
JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Admit Card: Status and website
At the same time, the admit card is the most important document for tomorrow’s exam. Without it, no student will be allowed to enter the exam hall.
NTA releases the JEE Main Session 2 admit card only on the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in. It is not sent by post or email. So, every student must download it on their own.
Key Points About the Admit Card:
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Official website | https://jeemain.nta.nic.in |
| How to log in | Application number + password / DOB |
| What it shows | Date, shift, exam city, full centre address, roll number, photo |
| Print format | A4 size, clear and readable |
Moreover, students should check their name, photo, signature, paper name, and exam city on the card. If there is any big mistake, they should call the NTA helpline quickly.
JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 (BTech) pattern: quick reminder
Besides the admit card, the paper pattern should also be fresh in your mind. This helps you use your time well in the exam hall.
Paper 1 is for BE / BTech admissions. It has questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 – Expected Pattern:
| Subject | Total Questions | Questions to Attempt* | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics | 30 | 25 | 100 |
| Chemistry | 30 | 25 | 100 |
| Mathematics | 30 | 25 | 100 |
| Total | 90 | 75 | 300 |
*There are usually 20 MCQs + 10 numerical questions per subject. You answer all 20 MCQs and any 5 out of 10 numerical questions.
Marking Scheme (Recent Pattern):
- For every correct answer: +4 marks
- For every wrong MCQ: –1 mark
- For numerical questions: usually no negative marks (students must recheck the latest information bulletin)
The exam is held in computer‑based mode at designated centres. So, students should be comfortable using a mouse and reading questions on a screen.
What to carry for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam tomorrow
Now, let us talk about what you must carry to the centre. This is very important, because even if you studied well, you cannot write the exam without the right documents.
Things You MUST Carry:
- Printed JEE Main 2026 Session 2 admit card
- One valid photo ID, such as:
- Aadhaar card
- School / college ID
- PAN card
- Passport
- Voter ID
- Passport‑size photograph, if asked in the instructions
In addition, students with a PwD certificate must carry it if they are using that category.
Things You MUST NOT Carry:
- Mobile phone, smart watch, earphones, or Bluetooth devices
- Any written notes, books, or paper slips
- Calculator, digital watch, or any electronic gadget
- Geometry box, scale, log tables, or slide rules
NTA will usually provide pens and rough sheets inside the exam hall. So, you do not need to bring your own pen unless the admit card clearly says so.
Exam day guidelines: dress code, reporting and behaviour
Along with documents, students should also remember the basic exam day rules. Following them can reduce tension and save time at the gate.
- Wear simple, light clothes without too many pockets or metal pieces.
- Avoid heavy jewellery, caps, sunglasses, and big belts.
- Wear slippers or flat sandals, not heavy sports shoes.
- Reach the exam centre at least 60 minutes before the reporting time, especially if the centre is in a new city.
Inside the exam hall:
- Listen carefully to all instructions from the invigilator.
- Read each question first, then answer. Do not rush.
- If a question seems very hard, skip it and return later if you have time.
- Keep an eye on the timer on the screen.
After finishing, submit your answers only when you are sure. Then wait calmly until you are asked to leave.
What happens after JEE Mains 2026 Session 2?
Once Session 2 is over, the work does not end. NTA will complete several steps after the exam.
- First, NTA will release the provisional answer key and response sheets.
- Then, students will get a short time to challenge any answer they feel is wrong.
- Next, NTA will publish the final answer key.
- After that, NTA will declare the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 result and final All India Rank (AIR).
For students who appeared in both sessions, NTA will use the best score from Session 1 and Session 2 to prepare the final merit list. This final score is used for:
- NIT, IIIT, and GFTI BTech admissions through JoSAA counselling
- JEE Advanced 2026 eligibility for IIT admissions
Therefore, students should keep their admit card and login details safe even after the exam is over.
