JEE Main 2026 Cut-off and All India Rank (AIR)
Now, students are also keen to know about cut-off marks and AIR rank. These decide if you are eligible for JEE Advanced and also affect your college chances.
NTA will release the JEE Main 2026 cut-off for JEE Advanced along with or soon after the result. This cut-off is given in terms of percentile, and it is different for each category.
What matters after result
- Your total percentile decides your All India Rank
- Higher percentile gives better rank, and more college options
- Cut-off percentile decides if you can appear for JEE Advanced 2026
- JoSAA counselling will use AIR for seat allotment in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs
Therefore, you should note both your AIR and your category rank, and then plan your next steps.
Previous Year JEE Main Cut-offs and Toppers
In this part, we look at past year data. This will not give exact 2026 values, but it will give you a good idea of the expected cut-off range.
In recent years, more than 11 lakh students registered for JEE Main. Out of them, around 9–10 lakh actually appeared in the exams. Only about 2.5 lakh students were selected for JEE Advanced each year.
Sample JEE Main Cut-off Trend (for JEE Advanced qualification – previous year)
| Category | Approx Cut-off Percentile* |

| EWS | Around 75–76 |

| ST | Around 35–38 |
*These are from a recent year and are only for reference. Actual 2026 cut-off will be decided by NTA.
